i've never been a fan of the blogging rage. sure, i enjoy reading through the interesting trials, tribulations and opinions of everyone else. and i have stumbled upon quite a few gems out in the internet world. but i'm quite against this whole "let's just let technology take over the world" phenomena that has been a rising trend over the past ten or so years of my life. like the kindle? talk about sucking the joy out of reading. and automatic sinks, hand dryers and toilets? what, are we too lazy to turn the faucet, press the button or flush the toilet ourselves?! come on.
anyways, since i have a love for actual writing, like with a pen and a piece of paper for all you people caught up in the technological age, i always thought creating a blog would take away from my "real" writing. but this summer i'm dabbling in the world of office work, which means i am confined to a desk and a computer [something that is just not my style] and since another procrastination tool can never hurt, i figured why not give this a shot. so here we go!
i'm spending this summer living and working up at school [which for all you strange folk that don't know me but for some odd reason but might be reading this, school is hobart and william smith colleges]. it's been strange so far, it's basically college without classes, which is obviously every college student's dream, so i think it is going to turn out to be an excellent summer.
i'm not really sure what to, ahem, "blog about". there are so many options. perhaps i'll start with two of my favorite things, words and music. i have a slight obsession with words. i guess you'd say "quotes", but sometimes i think that word is juvenile and cliche, so i like to avoid using it if i can. anyways, i collect them, from anywhere and everywhere. so here seems like a good a place as any to share some. and as for the music, there's always so much good stuff floating around out there so i suppose i'll post some of that as well.
so music first.
stone town, they're a band from the uk. my roomate was studying abroad in france this semester and discovered them, well she actually befriended one of them, but anyways i stole some of their music from her. if you listen closely the one who raps actually has a bit of a lisp, it puts a unique spin on it, which i like.
and words second.
and i think that's about all for now.
adios!
